Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Dies at 92

Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has passed away at the age of 92. Singh, who served as prime minister from 2004 to 2014, was widely recognized as the architect of India’s economic reforms and played a pivotal role in the landmark nuclear deal with the United States.

Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi following a sudden health crisis.

Known for his mild demeanor and integrity, Singh was appointed by Sonia Gandhi, the widow of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. His tenure was marked by significant economic growth but also marred by corruption allegations against his administration. After losing to Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2014 elections, Singh maintained a low profile. His contributions to India’s economic landscape and governance will be remembered as a significant part of the nation’s history.
