JIH Condemns Hate Crimes and Detention of Bengali Muslims in Assam
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has condemned the rise in hate crimes and the detention of 28 Bengali Muslims from Assam, following derogatory remarks made by a Hindu religious leader against Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his pure family), Muslim Mirror reported yesterday.
At a press conference, JIH Vice President Prof. Salim Engineer highlighted several incidents of violence targeting Muslims, including communal attacks and lynchings, calling for immediate government action against perpetrators.
Prof. Salim criticized the practice of “bulldozer justice,” where properties of accused individuals are demolished without due process, disproportionately affecting minorities. He demanded legal action against Ramgiri Maharaj for his inflammatory comments and urged the judiciary to take swift measures against rising hate speech.
JIH National Secretary Shafi Madani condemned the detention of the Bengali Muslims, asserting that their rights were violated by the Foreigners Tribunal. He emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in such proceedings, demanding the immediate release of the detainees and support for affected individuals.
