Office of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi publishes amount of Zakat al-Fitr for different countries 2025

The office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, has announced the amount of Zakat al-Fitr per person for this year (1446 AH). In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the office stated that “Grand Ayatollah al-Shirazi has determined the Zakat al-Fitr amount for this year (1446 AH / 2025 AD) for a list of 34 countries, starting from Iraq and ending with Nigeria in Africa.”
The statement clarified that “the Zakat al-Fitr amount per individual is set at 1,500 Iraqi dinars in Iraq, 1.5 dinars in Kuwait, 20 dirhams in the UAE, 2 dinars in Bahrain, 15,000 Syrian pounds in Syria, 200,000 Lebanese pounds in Lebanon, 2 rials in Oman, 900 rials in Yemen, 290 rupees in Pakistan, 90 afghanis in Afghanistan, 90 rupees in India, 200 liras in Turkey.”
The statement continued, “65 kroner in Denmark, 6 pounds in the United Kingdom, 10 dollars in the United States, 20 dollars in Australia, 9 euros in Finland, 9 euros in Ireland, 1,500 francs in Cameroon, 7,500 shillings in Tanzania, 100 kroner in Sweden, 5 manats in Azerbaijan, 8 euros in the Netherlands, 6 euros in Greece, 8 euros in Belgium, 7 euros in France, 7 francs in Switzerland, 9 euros in Germany, 13 dollars in Canada, 110 kroner in Norway, 22 Brazilian reals in Brazil, and 17,500 ariary in Madagascar.”
Regarding Iran, the statement mentioned that the amounts vary by region, with 35,000 tomans set for Tehran and 22,000 tomans for other provinces. It is noteworthy that Zakat al-Fitr, also known as Fitrah, is one of the obligatory forms of almsgiving in Islam. It is given on behalf of individuals rather than wealth. While Zakat on wealth purifies assets, Zakat al-Fitr is considered a purification for the body and soul, according to narrations from the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).
