Mourning ceremony at honourable residence of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi marking 40th day of passing of Ayatollah Ali al-Shirazi
A mourning ceremony was held on Wednesday (7th of Rabi al-Awwal) at the residence of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi, in the holy city of Qom, marking the 40th day of the passing of the late Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Husayni al-Shirazi, the eldest son of the Grand Marja.
The mourning ceremony saw a large turnout of scholarly, cultural, and social figures, alongside religious scholars, seminary students, and groups of believers, who came to offer their condolences to the Supreme Religious Authority and his honourable family.
The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by eulogies highlighting the virtues of the deceased and his pioneering role in spreading the teachings of Islam and guiding the faithful. Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Shirazi was known for his knowledge, humility, and dedication to serving the community.
The speeches touched on his significant efforts in supporting religious institutions, promoting Islamic culture, and his scholarly career, which was marked by selflessness and devotion, making him a symbol of knowledge and faith.
Several prominent figures delivered heartfelt speeches, expressing their sorrow and grief over the loss of such a distinguished scholarly figure, emphasizing that his passing left a great void in religious and scholarly circles.
Speakers also referred to the late Ayatollah’s courageous stance in defending truth, supporting the oppressed, and his efforts in advancing the seminary and guiding youth towards the path of righteousness and adherence to the teachings of the faith.
The ceremony also recalled key moments from the late Ayatollah’s life, describing him as a strong supporter of the religious authority and a man of far-reaching vision in social and religious matters. He was deeply committed to spreading the values of justice and tolerance among people.
