Fire at Imam Ali Street subdued at holy Karbala
🔷 The fire in the “Taraf al-Bush” mawkib on Imam Ali Street in the holy city of Karbala has been subdued.
🔷 Due to the explosion of gas canisters, the fire also damaged a part of Allawi market.
🔷 Officials of Taraf al-Bush mawkib have announced that they will continue to cook food for pilgrims on the day of Ashura.
🔷 This mawkib is one of the great processions in the holy city of Karbala, which serves Hosseini mourners on Ashura noon.
🔷 It should be mentioned that a fire broke out in one of the mourning associations on Imam Ali Street in the holy city of Karbala, leading to the death of a number of Hosseini mourners and causing damage.
🔷 The fire incident occurred this Friday at around 16:10 Karbala time and killed five people, according to the preliminary statistics of unofficial sources.
🔷 Investigations reveal the explosion of gas canisters of a mawkib caused this fire.
🔷 Immediately after the fire broke out, civil defense teams and support officials started an operation to extinguish and subdue the fire in the textile shops of Imam Ali street in Karbala Governorate.
🔷 “This was not a terrorist incident and, fortunately, the situation is under control.”, said Major General Saad Ma’an, director of public relations and media department of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, about the fire on Imam Ali street in the holy city of Karbala.
