Widespread ISIS Arrests in Turkey and Lebanon Strike Blow to Militant Networks
——————————–
Security forces in Turkey and Lebanon have recently carried out major operations arresting hundreds of suspects linked to the extremist Sunni group ISIS, dealing a blow to its regional networks.
According to reports viewed by the Shia Waves Agency, in Turkey, a nationwide counter-terrorism operation spanning 33 provinces led to the arrest of 233 suspects alleged to be members of, or financiers for, ISIS. According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, the arrests are part of continuous efforts combining security, intelligence, and international cooperation against terrorism. Some suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Lebanon, the army announced the capture of a key ISIS figure accused of overseeing the financing and transfer of explosives for terrorist operations. Identified by initials, the suspect allegedly led an ISIS-affiliated cell in Wadi Khaled–Akkar and has been referred to the judiciary.
These concurrent operations highlight intensified regional pressure on ISIS networks. Observers say the arrests in Turkey and Lebanon could disrupt planned attacks and financial flows, underscoring the importance of coordinated security and intelligence efforts across borders.
