World Shirazi Foundation expresses support for Islamic Bridges Conference taking place in Mecca
The World Shirazi Foundation has expressed its support for the second edition of the Building Bridges Between Islamic Sects conference, currently taking place in Mecca. The organization hopes the event will lead to recommendations that help curb violence and counter extremist rhetoric.
The conference is being held amid rising sectarian tensions in several Muslim-majority countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria. The foundation highlighted the continued spread of extremist ideologies that incite violence against different Islamic sects, resulting in tragic losses among innocent civilians.
In its statement, the global foundation called on participants to reflect on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, in dealing with those of differing beliefs.
It also urged attendees to adopt a binding resolution that criminalizes both physical and psychological violence against those with differing views, emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence and rejecting all forms of violence.
