Shiites of Ahlul-Bayt rejoice in celebration of birth anniversary of Sayyida Fatima
The 20th of Jumadi al-Thani marks the birth anniversary of Sayyida Fatima, al-Razia al-Marziyah, peace be upon her, and the beginning of the 10-day-period commemorating her honorable status.
Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra, peace be upon her, was the fruit of the marriage of the Holy Prophet Muhammad al-Mustafa, peace be upon him and his family, and Sayyida Khadija, peace be upon her. Her Majesty is the wife of Amirul Momineen Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him, and the mother of Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain, peace be upon them, and Sayyida Zainab and Sayyida Umm Kulthum, peace be upon them.
Regarding the birth circumstances of Fatima al-Zahra, peace be upon her, Sheikh al-Saduq, may God shower him with mercy, has narrated an authentic hadith that says, when Sayyida Khadijah became pregnant with Sayyida Fatimah, her unborn child would speak to her from inside the womb. She kept this story from the Holy Prophet. So, one day the Prophet entered the house and heard that the Sayyida Khadijah was talking to someone, but he did not see anyone in her company. So, he asked her, “O Khadijah, who are you talking to?”
Sayyida Khadijah replied: The child in my womb speaks to me and is my companion! The Holy Prophet said: Now, Gabriel informs me that this child is a girl, and she will be a pure, virtuous and blessed progeny, and the Almighty will create my descendants from her, and the Imams and Religious Leaders will be from her progeny.
The hadith continues with some details, and further mentions that one of the female heavenly saints sent down to assist Sayyida Khadija with the delivery took newly-born Sayyida Fatimah and bathed her in Kowsar water. Upon this, Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra, peace be upon her, said: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that my father is the Messenger of Allah, and the master of the prophets, and that my husband Ali is the master of the Guardians, and my progeny are the Master of the prophetic Grandsons.
The Shiite world across the globe is filled with joy and happiness on the anniversary of the auspicious birth of Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra, peace be upon her. The sacred shrines of the Immaculate Imams and their honourable descendants in Iraq and Iran commemorate the anniversary of the birth of the Lady of the Two Worlds by decorating and holding some ceremonies.
These days the holy city of Najaf and the holy Shrine of Amir al-Momineen Ali (peace be upon him) has a unique atmosphere. Pilgrims and devotees of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) from all over Iraq and elsewhere visit the Holy Alavi Shrine and perform Ziyarah while congratulating His Holiness.
On this occasion, the Residence of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, in the holy city of Qom as well as the offices and centers affiliated with the Supreme Marja all over the world host celebrations and receive loyalists of the Ahlul-Bayt, peace be upon them.
