Governor of Holy Najaf inaugurates new overpass to reduce traffic congestion during massive pilgrimages
The Governor of Najaf Al-Ashraf, Majid Al-Waeli, confirmed that (Ya Hussein) Overpass, inaugurated on Saturday, on Najaf-Karbal Road, is part of important projects to reduce heave traffic jams during massive pilgrimages.
In a statement followed by Shia Waves Agency, Al-Waeli explained that the local administration returned to the Iraqi Council of Ministers and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and to the Ministries of Oil and Finance and the Ministerial Council of Economy to finance the already-suspended Overpass project.
The government agreed to finance the project. The governor pointed out that “the structural and architectural designs of the project were re-evaluated, and there were some temporary halts due to massive pilgrimages, as well as other campaigns to remove properties taken illegally.”
He added that, “The project is a part of several projects to reduce traffic congestion during massive pilgrimages, such as Massive pilgrimage of Arbaeen, when millions of pilgrims walk towards Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein to commemorate his martyrdom, peace be upon him.
