Holy Shrine of Kadhimiya hoists black banner of sorrow over martyrdom of Imam al-Kadhim

The black banner of sorrow and sadness has been hoisted on top of two holy domes of Imam Musa al-Kadhim and Imam Muhammad al-Jawad, peace be upon them, in Holy Kadhimiya to mark martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa bin Jafar al-Kadhim, peace be upon them, on the 25th of the month of Rajab.

The flag-hoisting ceremony is held annually to mark this tragic anniversary and is attended by large numbers of the followers of AhlulByet from Iraq and other countries to extend their condolences to the Imam al-Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance.

The Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine, Hayder al-Shimari called on the local authorities to double their security efforts to provide full security for the millions of pilgrims who have begun flocking towards Holy Kadhimiya to commemorate the Imam’s martyrdom.

Al-Shimari also called on governmental and societal organizations to ensure that public morality is maintained and to prevent any sacrilegious acts.
