The Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association Holds a Mourning Ceremony and Reflects on the Life of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in Srinagar
The Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association organized a day-long religious program in the Gawand Hasibhat area of Srinagar, which included eulogies and a mourning ceremony, attended by a large gathering of followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
During the ceremony, the head of the association, Maulvi Imran Raza Ansari, spoke about the biography of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), highlighting his spiritual status and sacrifices. He emphasized the qualities of courage, knowledge, justice, and devotion that characterized Imam Ali’s personality, as well as his close relationship with the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and his esteemed position among the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
Ansari discussed several prominent events in the life of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), including the incident of Khaybar, and illustrated the lessons and spiritual and ethical values derived from his life.
He also dedicated a portion of his speech to the concept of the guardianship of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), citing the verse: “Your ally is none but Allah, His Messenger, and those who have believed – those who establish prayer and give zakat, and they bow [in worship].” He referenced the narrations concerning the interpretation of this verse, which mention the act of charity by the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) by donating his ring while bowing.
The head of the Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association emphasized that recalling the life of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) should serve as a motivation for believers to emulate his principles of justice, courage, knowledge, mercy, supporting the oppressed, and serving the community.
The mourning ceremony concluded with prayers for the unity of the Islamic nation and the protection of the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), along with reaffirming the importance of continuing to commemorate religious occasions and promoting the values and principles of the Ahl al-Bayt.
