According to a report by IQNA, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas, is currently hosting a special exhibition showcasing centuries of Quranic art. Titled “Sea of Ink, Forest of Pens: The Art of the Quran in the Hossein Afshar Collection,” the exhibition will be on view until June 28, 2026.

The exhibit features a collection of masterworks from the 7th to the 19th centuries, highlighting the rich tradition of creating deluxe Quranic manuscripts across more than 1,200 years of Islamic history.

Among the notable works on display is a folio from an early 7th-century Quran manuscript, alongside a beautifully illuminated manuscript from 19th-century Iran. The exhibition also includes contemporary pieces, such as Pouran Jinchi’s “Tajvid Red 2” and Haji Noor Deen’s “Ayat al-Kursi Scroll,” which blend traditional art forms with modern and Chinese calligraphic styles. The exhibition underscores the cultural and artistic significance of the Quran through its masterful calligraphy and illumination.
