Grand Ayatollah Shirazi calls on leaders to emulate Imam Ali’s approach of justice
The Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi, emphasized that human history has never witnessed treatment of enemies and opponents like that of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him). He pointed out that this unique model has not been seen even in our present era, despite the slogans raised about freedom and human rights.
His Eminence said: “We have never witnessed in human history treatment like that of Imam Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) toward his enemies and opponents—not even in this day and age, especially in those countries that raise slogans of freedom and human rights. You find that as soon as they achieve victory in their unjust battles and capture the leaders of the opposing side, they imprison them or refer them to special courts, labeling them as war criminals, traitors, or conspirators, and may even execute them.”
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi noted that the conduct of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) represents a sublime model of just governance based on divine and humanitarian principles. He called on governments, particularly in Muslim countries, to follow the Imam’s approach and that of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) in managing the affairs of nations and people, as their governments were the highest example in achieving justice and safeguarding people’s rights.
