Office of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi calls for commemorating Sayyeda Zainab’s martyrdom amid difficult circumstances

Amid challenging conditions preventing many pilgrims from visiting the shrine of Sayyeda Zainab, peace be upon her, on the anniversary of her martyrdom on the 15th of Rajab, the office of Grand Ayatollah Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has issued a call for believers and Hussaini processions in Iraq and worldwide to hold mourning ceremonies to mark this solemn occasion.

The office urged the faithful to set up mourning tents and organize gatherings to honor Sayyeda Zainab, peace be upon her, emphasizing the importance of magnifying her legacy in line with the Quranic verse: “And whoever honors the symbols of Allah—it is indeed from the piety of hearts.”

The statement highlighted that these rituals embody loyalty to and solidarity with the tribulations of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and reaffirm Sayyeda Zainab’s role in preserving the faith and delivering the eternal message of Holy Karbala.

This call aims to encourage global observance of Sayyeda Zainab’s martyrdom, fostering devotion to the Ahlulbayt and reinforcing the values of sacrifice and patience exemplified in her life. The office of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi also urged utilizing this occasion to educate people about Sayyeda Zainab’s heroic legacy, ensuring her story remains a guiding light for the Islamic community.
