Millions of Shias commemorate martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hasan al-Askari in Holy Samarra

Millions of Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, commemorated today, 8th of Rabi al-Awwal, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari, peace be upon him, in Holy Samarra, amid an atmosphere of sadness and sorrow.

Shia Waves correspondent said that “Millions of pilgrims, from various Iraqi provinces and other countries, have been arriving in the holy city of Samara for days to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari, peace be upon him.”

He added that “Mourning processions and ceremonies have been held on this painful occasion amid tight security procedures and service activities.”

The mourners stressed their “commitment and loyalty to Imam Al-Askari, peace be upon him, and his instructions and to continue on his honorable path,” renewing their “pledge of allegiance the Imam to defend his son, Imam Al-Mahdi, may Allah Almighty bring forward his honorable reappearance.”
