Washington D.C. witnesses Annual Arbaeen March amid large number of participants
The U.S. capital, Washington D.C., witnessed the Annual Arbaeen March, amid participation from various Shia communities residing in the United States.
The march took place in the metropolitan area, including Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C., as part of an annual ritual observed by many Shia communities in the U.S.
Organizers of the march told Shia Waves Agency that their annual procession began at Connecticut Avenue and Dupont Circle and continued to the White House, commemorating the Holy Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
They explained that this march, which is part of the annual activities commemorating Arbaeen, has been officially licensed by the U.S. government for several years, emphasizing an increase in the number of participants.
The organizers confirmed that this march is usually held on the first of September and brings together people of various nationalities and ethnicities. Participants include Urdu-speaking Shia from India and Pakistan, Arab Shia from Iraqi, Lebanese, and Syrian communities, as well as Shia from Iran and Afghanistan.
