Iraq: Communications and Media Commission announces success of media coverage of Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage
The Iraqi Communications and Media Commission announced the successful media coverage of this year’s Arbaeen Pilgrimage, affirming that it was the largest in the history of the sacred pilgrimage, revealing a set of media indicators that reflect the unprecedented level of media participation.
According to the Commission’s statement, the number of journalists covering the pilgrimage ceremonies reached 3,615, including 2,257 Iraqi journalists and 1,358 foreign journalists. Additionally, 2,913 stationary and mobile cameras were used to cover various events of the pilgrimage.
Regarding live broadcasts, the Commission noted the use of 101 devices for live streaming, and the facilitation of 6,780 pieces of journalistic equipment into Iraq to cover the event. Furthermore, 80 fixed broadcast centers were established along the pilgrimage routes to ensure comprehensive coverage of the ceremonies.
A total of 101 television channels and 61 radio stations participated in the media coverage, along with 100 news agencies. The total duration of live broadcast hours provided reached 213,000 minutes.
Moreover, 65 satellite channels provided clean feed services, reflecting the extensive efforts made to ensure comprehensive and wide-ranging coverage of this significant religious event.
The Communications and Media Commission emphasized that this extensive coverage highlights the great importance of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage both locally and internationally, and reflects a commitment to presenting a bright image of this historic event.
