Pakistan: Shia of Quetta continue to commemorate Hussaini rituals in defiance of terrorism
Despite the ongoing terrorist attacks targeting Shia followers of Ahlulbayt in Pakistan’s Quetta, they have continued to commemorate the rituals and mourning ceremonies of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
Several religious figures and believers in the city told Shia Waves Agency that “mourning ceremonies for the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, have been ongoing since the first of Holy Muharram and will continue through the month of Holy Safar, the month of sorrow.”
They added that “holding mourning ceremonies and commemorating the sacred Hussaini rituals is a message of victory and strength carried by faithful Shia against the extremist terrorist groups that do not wish well for the country and the Islamic nation.”
They also explained that “the city of Quetta is akin to a ‘miniature Karbala,’ where not a day passes without its residents holding mourning ceremonies and recalling the suffering of the Master of the Free, his family, and his companions.”
They noted that “day by day, the city witnesses the opening of more Husseiniyas, mosques, and Hussaini Mawakib that commemorate Imam Hussein’s tragedy and sacrifices, challenging all forces of darkness and murder.”
The city’s residents also mentioned that they “eagerly anticipate the commemoration of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, every year, considering it a divine blessing bestowed upon the faithful who carry this love and devotion in their hearts and souls.”
