CNN Arabic covers sacred rituals of Holy Ashura (2024)
The CNN Arabic news network has published Images of the Holy Ashura commemoration ceremonies and the scared rituals of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
Under the title “From Turkey to Kuwait and Iraq – Shia Images and the Observance of Ashura,” the news site monitored in its report “the ceremonies observed by the Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, commemorating the eternal memory of Ashura, and the Husseini rituals which are held worldwide.”
The report, seen by Shia Waves Agency, added that, “members of the Shia community from Kuwait, Iraq, Turkey, Iran, and other Arab and Islamic countries came out to observe Ashura amid active participation.”
It explained that the Day of Ashura for Shia Muslims “is a commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, through his daughter Fatimah al-Zahra, peace be upon her.”
The report continued that “on this day, Shia Muslims recite poems, beat their chests in a ritual known as ‘latm,’ and flagellate themselves with knives and swords as an expression of grief over the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.”
It should be mentioned that millions of Shia Muslims around the world commemorated Holy Ashura this year, which represents the greatest human tragedy known to mankind.
