Holy flag of Imam Hussain raised at 17,500ft in Kargil, Kashmir
In commemoration of Holy Ashura, the Holy Flag of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, was raised at an altitude of 17,500 feet near Gangshanmu Top Thovina in Kargil, within the Union Territory of Ladakh, Rising Kashmir reported.
According to the newspaper, this event marks the first time the flag has been positioned at such a high elevation in Ladakh.
Renowned ski coach and adventurer Syed Shamshudin Umba, along with his companion Mohd Yousuf Shilikchey, accomplished this feat after a challenging two-day trek to the summit.
Syed Shamshudin explained to the media that their goal in hoisting the flag at Gangshanmu Top was to spread the message of Holy Karbala and to showcase the breathtaking peaks of Kargil, highlighting their potential for adventure.
The newspaper added that Kargil has been covered in black cloths, flags, and banners to commemorate the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet Mohammad’s grandson, Hazrat Imam Hussain, at Karbala.
