Iraq: Minister of Interior chairs meeting to discuss security plans ahead of Holy Arba’een
The Iraqi Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, held on Saturday a meeting to discuss the security procedures and plans for the coming Tenth of Muharram and Holy Arba’een pilgrimages.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, “the meeting, chaired by Al-Shammari, was attended attended by the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations and several leaders and officers from the Ministries of Defense and Interior and the Popular Mobilization Forces, and other security leaders.”
The statement added that “the minister conveyed the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, which emphasize mobilizing all capabilities of the Iraqi state to ensure the success of this pilgrimage and providing services to pilgrims from inside and outside the country.”
The Minister of Interior stressed “intensifying efforts at border crossings to facilitate the entry of foreign pilgrims and expanding the work scope of the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports, and Residency in this regard, in addition to providing vehicles to transport pilgrims heading towards Holy Karbala and working to meet their needs, especially during land transport.”
It should be mentioned that the holy city of Karbala will host millions of pilgrims from all over the world, who will come to commemorate the Tenth of Muharram and the Holy Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
