City of Leicester prepares to host largest mourning procession on 7th Muharram

The city of Leicester in England will host the largest mourning procession on the 7th day of the upcoming month of Muharram, organized in partnership with several Shia centres and Husseiniyas in the city, to commemorate the tragic event of Karbala.

According to a statement by Al-Hussein Mosque in the city, one of the organizers of the procession, “a large number of followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, have announced their active participation in this procession.”

The mosque administration stated on its website, seen by Shia Waves Agency, that “the unified Shia mourning procession in Leicester will start at 2 PM local time on the 7th of Muharram.”

The administrators also emphasized that “we must do our best to spread the message of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the United Kingdom and the entire world,” noting that “the message of the Husseini Revolution is a universal message to save humanity from misguidance and liberate it from slavery.”

Millions of Shia followers of Ahlulbayt are preparing to receive the two months of mourning, Muharram and Safar, to commemorate the tragic martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his family, and his loyal companions, peace be upon them, in the sorrowful event of Karbala.
