Ahead of Arba’een Pilgrimage, Iraqi Ministry of Interior discusses security Olym
The Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari has announced the plans and efforts the government is conducting to secure the coming Holy Arba’een Pilgrimage, an annual event that sees millions of people from all over the world.
Al-Shammari said that two committees have been formed from high-ranking officials to discuss last year’s pilgrimage and the obstacles faced the security and service departments.
Regarding the entry of Iranian vehicles, the Minister explained that “Iranian public transport vehicles may be used during the last days of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage to assist with returning pilgrims to the border crossings.”
He confirmed that “all matters and aspects of the pilgrimage have been agreed upon with the Iranian side, except for the issue of Pakistani visitors, who will be subject to specific regulations because many of them have not left Iraq in violation of residency regulations.”
Al-Shammari pointed out that there is support from the Prime Minister for the pilgrimage, and funds have been allocated to cover its expenses, adding that the PM has directed the mobilization of all state efforts to secure the pilgrimage.
