Local government in Holy Najaf announces full-scale security plan ahead of Imam Ali’s martyrdom

Security officials in Holy Najaf have confirmed the preparation of a comprehensive and extensive security plan to secure the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Ali, peace be upon him.

The holy city of Najaf witnessed a large influx of visitors from inside and outside Iraq over the last two days, to participate in commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, at his holy shrine, security sources told Shia Waves Agency.

The sources added that “security forces have been deployed on all axes and routes leading to the holy city, in order to secure the visitors who come in thousands towards the sacred shrine.”

Days ago, the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali in Najaf province launched mourning ceremonies in preparation for the upcoming anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, including raising mourning flags and black banners at the shrine and its surroundings.
