Construction work underway to build largest Shia masjid in Birmingham
The Abbas Cultural Center in Birmingham, UK, has revealed that construction work is underway to build the largest Shia mosque in the city, which will be named after Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
The work followed the approval of the final designs for the mosque by the center’s board of directors, which will bear the name of Imam Hussein and will be the largest among mosques in Birmingham.
According to the Centre’s official website, the Imam Hussein Mosque will be among the largest mosques in Birmingham, pointing out that, its design will reflect Islamic architecture with a modern spirit and inspiration from the shrine of Imam Hussein in Holy Karbala.
The mosque will include multiple service facilities to serve the Shia community, in addition to a main prayer hall that will accommodate hundreds of worshippers for prayers and the observance of sacred Hussaini rituals.
