Millions of Shias mark Mid-Sha’ban blessed night in Holy Karbala
Millions of Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, commemorated in Holy Karbala the mid-Sha’ban night, which marks the blessed birth of the awaited Imam al-Mahdi, may Allah hasten his honourable reappearance.
The holy city witnessed a large influx of visitors from various Iraqi provinces and other countries to mark this blessed occasion, amidst tight security measures and comprehensive service and health plans.
The streets of the holy city centre, its districts, and surroundings, as well as its houses and Hussainiyas, were adorned with a large number of candles symbolizing the age of Imam al-Mahdi, 1190 years.
Hussaini service Mawakib along the routes of the visitors were mobilized to provide food, drinks, and rest places, while security forces were deployed to ensure sufficient protection for the massive crowds.
Local government, relevant ministries, holy shrines, and Hussaini Mawakib in Holy Karbala prepared comprehensive security, service, and health plans to cater to the needs of the visitors.
Additionally, 10 provinces declared a holiday to mark the auspicious birth anniversary and participate in the ceremonies of visiting Holy Karbala on the night of mid-Sha’ban.
According to the head of the Iraqi Media and Communications Commission, 68 TV channels, 51 media outlets and 119 local and international journalists participated in the live coverage of the massive event.
