Uttar Pradesh declares statewide holiday to celebrate blessed birth of Imam Ali
A statewide holiday has been declared in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, Jan. 25, which coincides with the 13th of the blessed month of Rajab, on the occasion of the birth of Imam Ali, peace be upon him.
Indian media outlets, including The Free Press Journal and The Times of India, reported that the Ministry of Education in the country announced the suspension of official work in all government and private schools in celebration of Imam Ali’s blessed birth anniversary.
According to local media outlets, followed by Shia Waves Agency, “this decision includes all educational offices, schools, and colleges in the state.”
They added that “many Indian states will hold their celebrations on Thursday, January 25, to celebrate the blessed birth of the successor of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, Amir al-Mu’minin Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him.”
Government officials also announced the launch of campaigns to spread decorations and manifestations of joy in a number of Indian states to celebrate the pure Alawi anniversary.
Loyal Shias, along with citizens of many sects, commemorate the blessed anniversary of the birth of the Lion of God, the Victorious Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, to honor his noble status and his lofty position as the greatest just ruler known to humanity.
