Crowds of Shia Muslims gather in Holy Samarra to commemorate martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali Al-Hadi
Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, from all over Iraq gathered in the holy city of Samarra on Monday to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Ali al-Hadi, peace be upon him.
The mourners expressed their condolences to the Imam al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar, may God hasten his honorable reappearance, and vowed to continue to follow the path of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.
The Secretariat-General of the Askariyyain Holy Shrine announced that it had organized a number of events to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam al-Hadi, peace be upon him. These events included religious lectures, poetry, and mourning ceremonies.
Imam Ali al-Hadi, peace be upon him, is the tenth Infallible Imam of the Twelver Shia. He was born in Medina in 212 AH and was martyred in Holy Samarra in 254 AH. The Imam was poisoned by the Abbasid caliph al-Mutawakkil.
