In multi-faith conference in Turkey, local official says “love for Hussein is a symbol of our unity”
The Turkish local newspaper “Flaş Gazetesi” reported that the mayor of Keçiören, Ankara, Turgut Altınok, confirmed that Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, is the king of all religions, sects and nationalities.
The newspaper quoted Altınok as saying in a speech he delivered at the opening of the annual “Al-Mawqid Al-Alewi ” conference, translated by Shia Waves Agency, that he “feels proud and happy to be meeting under one roof with what he described as his ‘AleWi ancestors,’ local Alawi associations, and opinion leaders from this sect”.
Antinok added that, “We are one, our pains are one, and our sorrows are one, and if we live in Anatolia today, it is due to the solid foundations laid by the leader of the Alevi sect in Turkey, Haji Bektash Veli.”
The Turkish local official added that “the people of his country in general, pray for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his 72 martyred companions, from whom we must learn not to allow the new Yazidis and the new Muawiyahs to cast their shadows on our unity and brotherhood that unites Kurds, Turks, Alevis and Sunnis.”
The mayor of Keçiören described Imam Ali (PBUH) as “the lion of God,” and the first young man to enter Islam, while his son Imam Hussein was the beloved of the Prophet, peace be upon him and his family,” stressing that “the tragedy of Karbala, before and after, was the bullets fired at our unity and solidarity, even though those who fired this bullet claimed to be Muslims, while they committed this act to avenge our Prophet, peace be upon him and his family. “
