Indian ‘Aligarh Muslim University’ holds scientific conference to launch “Karbala” play

A new English translation of the play “Karbala” by the famous Indian writer and scholar Munshi Premchand was launched at the International Scientific Conference on the reliability of the present age and discovering ways to know the absolute truth at the Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh, India, last week.

The play, which recounts the tragic events of Karbala and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), was translated by Professor Sami Rafiq and Dr. Harith Qadri and published by the Indian National Academy of Letters.

Scholars believe that the translation of Indian religious literature into living world languages has played a major role in introducing Western societies to the religious, cultural, and historical heritage of countries, especially Islamic countries.
