The office of the religious authority, His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani, explained the statement issued recently in Najaf regarding the establishment of mourning ceremonies for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the coming month of Muharram.
The office of the Sistani Religious Authority in the holy city of Qom, Iran, responded to a religious inquiry sent by organizers of Husseini processions in Tehran regarding the methods of holding the mourning ceremonies and processions in Muharram in presence of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The statement was issued days ago from Najaf.
The response to the inquiry came, “The statement issued from Najaf does not prohibit the establishment of mourning ceremonies while adhering to health instructions.”
On July 30, the office of the Sistani Religious Authority issued instructions regarding the establishment of rituals during the blessed month of Muharram.
