Muslim-Hindu tensions continue in Indian villages post Nuh clashes

Following Nuh clashes in India, Heads of eleven villages in the district of Rewari of the state of Haryana, have issued statements banning Muslim traders and vendors to come into their villages, Hindustan Times reported.

As a response, Deputy Commissioner, Mohd Imran Raza, has issued notices to these sarpanches, calling their move as ‘unconstitutional’ and demanding a reply within 7 days.

It should be noted that several village heads in Rewari, Mahendergarh and Jhajjar districts of Haryana had banned ‘Muslim’ traders from entering their villages post Nuh clashes, claiming that their religious sentiments were hurt after stones were pelted on a procession carried out by Hindu outfits.
