Shia devotees commemorate sorrowful martyrdom of Imam Al-Sajjad in Iraq
Large crowds of the loyal Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in Iraq have commemorated the sorrowful anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali bin al-Hussein Al-Sajjad, peace be upon them, at his son’s (Zaid the Martyr) holy shrine in Babylon Governorate.
The commemoration ceremonies of Imam Al-Sajjad’s martyrdom began last week and will continue until the 30th of the current holy month of Muharram.
The Shia Waves correspondent said that, “The devotees of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, from different Iraqi provinces established their mourning and service processions and also held mourning ceremonies to commemorate this painful memory.”
He added that, “Zaid the Martyr’s Holy Shrine, peace be upon him, has been hosting large numbers of pilgrims since the beginning the week week amid tight security procedures.”
The correspondent said further that, “The official of the Religious Processions Unit, Ali al-Hulissnawi, said that more that 200 processions had participated in commemorating Imam Al-Sajjad’s martyrdom anniversary.”
