The Bahraini political detainee and is sentenced to life, Sayyed Abbas Mahdi, who is in prison for 10 years now, has directed a message to the OHCHR, calling on him to increase observers at the Bahraini prisons.
In his message, Mahdi highlighted the ill-treatment and systematic harassment the prisoners are subjected to in Bahrain’s prisons.
Mahdi pointed out in a voice message that, “We are not allowed to walk except for 45 minutes every day, and we are not allowed to contact our families except once a month and for 30 minutes only.”
He added, “The prison administration continues to prevent us from holding religious rituals and ceremonies and we do not receive adequate medical care.”
