First American Muslim civilian appointed in New York Police Oversight Committee
The New York City Police Oversight Committee in the United States of America has appointed the first Muslim American civilian as a member of a police audit team.
This nine-member committee oversees the rights of civilians in police investigations of political and religious groups.
Mohammad Faridi, the first civilian member of this committee, said in a press conference: “As the first Muslim representative in this committee, this important point is unforgettable for me.
I know that the Muslim community and all communities look at me and want to make sure that The NYPD is getting it right in some of the most important things it does for our city and our country.”
