Imam Shirazi World Foundation stresses the importance of human solidarity and calls for more efforts to achieve it
The Imam Shirazi World Foundation said that human solidarity is a cultural and educational path that stems from the base of society, and is not achieved by simply issuing laws and circulars or launching resonant speeches, rather, practical initiatives must be launched that are commensurate with the level of awareness of all social groups.
The international foundation issued a message on the occasion of the International Day of Human Solidarity, in which it called for more efforts to bridge the gap between the various groups of society on the basis of respect for human rights and diversity.
The Foundation also drew the attention of the international community to the sublime contents that came from the Noble Prophet and his pure progeny (peace be upon them), which urge human solidarity and concern for the parish of all their beliefs.
Below is the foundation’s message as it was received by Shia Waves News Agency:
1- The United Nations General Assembly issued its resolution 60/209 of March 17, 2006, considering solidarity as one of the basic and universal values on which relations between peoples should be based in the twenty-first century, and decided, in this regard, to declare December 20 of each year as the International Day of Human Solidarity as a reminder of the need to pay attention and provide assistance to the marginalized human segments by the groups that have achieved huge gains from globalization.
2- The failure of the international community to resolve crises peacefully clearly reflects the failure to manage conflicts as a result of prevailing the logic of force at the expense of the power of logic, which resulted in the outbreak of military and economic wars, the exacerbation of financial and living problems, and the spread of social crises.
3- The refusal to recognize human diversity in its various forms as a natural reality is one of the most important factors in the deterioration of the global situation. As it produced human groups that suffer from cultural, intellectual, ethnic, religious and social marginalization, and incurred within them a huge amount of deprivation and hatred, which may turn into a time bomb that will explode one day to strike global stability and peace; and its precursors have begun to appear in many countries of the world, threatening the future of future generations.
4- Human solidarity is a cultural and educational path that stems from the base of society, and is not achieved by merely issuing laws and circulars or launching resonant speeches by political, intellectual, social and religious elites. Rather, it is necessary to launch practical initiatives that are commensurate with the level of awareness of all social groups by emphasizing respect for basic human rights, sharing their pain, hopes, and living with their concerns, and working to reduce the area of marginalization by caring for the marginalized and giving them a role in social, political and economic activities in order to be an active element in the core of society and its construction.
5- The rich cultural heritage left to us by the Infallible Imams (peace be upon them) is full of practical solutions to enhance the culture of human solidarity.
6- On the International Day of Human Solidarity, we call on all governments, states, official bodies, organizations, and civil society to exert more efforts in order to bridge the gap between the various groups of society on the basis of respect for human rights and diversity and the rejection of marginalization, intolerance and violence, in order to build a world where justice, equality and freedom prevail.
