The Office of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi issues statement following the rockslide in the train of Imam Ali, peace be upon him

The Office of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, in the holy city of Karbala, issued a statement following the rockslide that occurred in the Droplet Site (Qattara) of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, near the holy city of Karbala, a few days ago, which claimed the lives of several believers, women and children.

The text of the statement stated:

In the name of Allah, The Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

(Those who, when faced with a disaster, say, “Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we will ˹all˺ return.) Surah Al-Baqarah: Verse 156

The catastrophe of the Droplet Site of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, is another wound afflicted upon the heart of Iraq.

This is a wonderful historical landmark that reveals the event of the eternal loyalty, where the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, rescued the masses of his soldiers from a murderous thirst.

The catastrophe of the Droplet Site is a terrible calamity that afflicted the hearts of Iraqis.

We ask God Almighty to bless the souls of the victims, speed up the recovery of the wounded, and give patience to their families.

Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.
