Iraq: Ministry of Communications to provide free internet access during Arbaeen Pilgrimage
Yesterday, the Iraqi Ministry of Communications has decided on the places to provide free internet access during the Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
The ministry said in a statement received by Shia Waves News Agency that “at the direction of the Ministry of Communications, a meeting was held attended by the Iraqi Telecommunications and Post Company, and representatives of the private ISP companies.
The statement added that “during the
meeting, they discussed the possibility of providing free internet service for pilgrims who are coming on the Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, by installing stations that broadcast Wi-Fi, while monitoring the quality of the internet by installing a large display screen at the headquarters of the telecommunications company to monitor the main roads that pilgrims take to reach the center.”
The statement also added, “It was agreed to equip the roads (Najaf – Karbala, Hilla – Karbala, and Musayyab – Karbala), in addition to the border crossings and the permanent service processions with free internet access, in cooperation with private ISP companies and the telecommunications company.”
