Cholera outbreak kills dozens in Afghanistan

Afghan media reported that dozens of people have died of cholera in Helmand and Zabul provinces in southern Afghanistan.

The sources said that “at least 40 people died of cholera in Helmand and Zabul provinces in southern Afghanistan,” adding that “among the dead were 15 children in Helmand province.”

It explained that “in the past two days alone, 120 cases of cholera were recorded in the southern provinces of Afghanistan.”

It is worth-mentioning that “Cholera infection usually occurs through contaminated water or seafood, and the disease is accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea, which causes dehydration and circulatory failure.”
