World’s most luxurious Quranic rug being woven in the Iranian city of Tabriz
The Director General of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts in East Azerbaijan Province announced the weaving of the most luxurious Quranic rug in the Islamic world in the city of Tabriz, northwest of Iran.
Ahmad Hamzazadeh said: This Quranic rug is not yet complete, adding that it is made of silk and includes the entire Holy Qur’an and consists of 160 pages and dimensions of 80×160 centimeters.
He explained that each of the 160 parts includes 28 lines of verses in the calligraphy of the Iranian calligrapher, Ahmed Ni Rizi, noting that calligraphers and weavers from Azerbaijan have been working on preparing the most luxurious and most important Quranic rug in the Islamic world for 16 months.
He emphasized that 72 pages out of 160 have been prepared so far, and the rest are being prepared.
