US President Joe Biden pledged to defend the persecuted Muslims in the world, congratulating all Muslims inside and outside the United States on the onset of the holy month of Ramadan.
Biden criticized hate crimes against American Muslims, and said, “Muslim Americans are still targeted with bullying, intolerance and hate crimes. This bias and these attacks are wrong and unacceptable, and they must stop.”
“No one should live in America in fear of expressing their faith,” he added.
Biden praised Muslim communities in the United States because they are as diverse and vibrant as America, and praised them for playing a leading role in the struggle for racial equality and social justice, and he also boasted that he had canceled the travel ban imposed by former President Donald Trump, which he described as a travel ban against Muslims, “On my first day as president, I was proud to end the shameful Muslim travel ban.”
Biden said he would also defend “persecuted Muslims around the world, including the Uyghurs in China and the Rohingya in Burma,” and promised to host a virtual celebration in the White House when Eid al-Fitr arrives.
