Baghdad holds conference in solidarity with Bahraini and Saudi Shiites

Iraqi officials, clerics and tribal leaders have attended a conference in the capital Baghdad to show solidarity with Bahraini and Saudi Shiites and to condemn the brutal repression of the peaceful Bahraini protesters

Iraqi officials, clerics and tribal leaders have attended a conference in the capital Baghdad to show solidarity with Bahraini and Saudi Shiites and to condemn the brutal repression of the peaceful Bahraini protesters.

The participants said that the brutal repression of the Saudi and Bahraini regimes aim at targeting the Shia people in the region on sectarian grounds.

Meanwhile, Mohammad al-Bayati, the Iraqi Human Rights Minister, called on Saudi and Bahraini authorities to release the activists and to respond to their demands.
