“Artillery shells were fired against three hotbeds of Daesh near the Syrian city of Al-Baghuz, leaving two Daesh leaders dead,” Alghad Press website quoted deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces as saying in a statement, Iraqi News reported.
On Sunday, Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi stressed the need for tightening security along the border with neighboring Syria to eradicate terrorist groups scattered there.
In December, former Iraqi premier Haidar al-Abadi announced gaining control on all the territories that were captured by Daesh since 2014.
