Karbala: Fatimiyoun Barefoot Procession Commemorates Martyrdom of Lady Fatima al-Zahra

The annual “Fatimiyoun Barefoot Procession” took place in the holy city of Karbala, bringing together religious scholars, Hussaini preachers, shrine servants and hundreds of mourners to commemorate the martyrdom of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her).

Participants walked barefoot through the streets and alleys of Karbala’s old city, expressing grief and solidarity with the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). They recited elegies and chanted slogans recalling Lady Fatima’s suffering and her defense of Islamic principles.

The procession also highlighted the significance of her Fadak Sermon and her enduring example of patience, steadfastness and commitment to truth.

Held annually during the Fatimiyah mourning days, the event reflects the community’s commitment to preserving Fatimid rituals and passing their religious and historical significance on to future generations.
