Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs has increased the number of approved companies organizing pilgrimages to holy shrines in Iraq, Iran and Syria to 282, following the accreditation of 21 new companies.

The announcement was made at an official ceremony attended by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and other officials involved in organizing religious pilgrimage trips.

The minister stressed the importance of improving services for Pakistani pilgrims, emphasizing their safety and comfort throughout their journeys. He urged accredited companies to provide suitable transportation, accommodation and meals, while ensuring safe and well-organized trips.

Muhammad Yousaf also announced that the ministry is working with the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to develop a management information system for pilgrimage tour operators. The system aims to improve administrative procedures, organize company operations and enhance services for pilgrims.

The measures form part of Pakistan’s efforts to regulate religious travel and strengthen oversight of licensed companies serving pilgrims visiting holy sites across the region.
