Florida Islamic Center Distributes Meals to People in Need

An Islamic center in Clermont, Florida, distributed more than 200 meals to people experiencing homelessness and families in need, while preparing around 400 additional meals for sale to raise funds for local hunger-relief programs.

Dozens of volunteers participated in the initiative, organized in partnership with New Beginnings of Central Florida as part of the center’s quarterly “BBQ to Feed the Community” event.

Proceeds will support the center’s food pantry, which provides assistance to struggling families. The center also delivers food monthly to residents of mobile home communities.

Organizers said the initiative reflects the importance of community solidarity and cooperation in tackling food insecurity and supporting people from all backgrounds.
