Protest Outside Azerbaijani Embassy in London Opposes Hijab Restrictions in Schools

Residents and activists gathered outside the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in west London on Friday to protest restrictions on wearing the hijab in the country’s schools and express solidarity with Muslim women and girls affected by the policy.
According to reports by the International Quran News Agency (IQNA) and Middle East Monitor, the demonstration took place in the Holland Park area. Participants called for Muslim students to be able to practice their religion and continue their education without discrimination or exclusion because of their religious dress.
Protesters argued that wearing the hijab is a matter of religious freedom and should not be used as grounds to deny girls and women access to education. They called for the restrictions in Azerbaijani educational institutions to be lifted.
Among those addressing the gathering was Muslim preacher Fazl Suleiman, who criticized the restrictions and argued that supporting the ban was inconsistent with Islamic teachings.
Organizers said they intended to continue holding demonstrations outside the Azerbaijani embassy every Friday until further notice, maintaining pressure for a change in the policy.
