According to Lithuanian media reports, the Quran-burning incident took place in the capital, Vilnius, while a gathering in the city of Kaunas near a historic mosque belonging to the Lithuanian Tatar Muslim community reportedly included slogans and threats while worshippers were inside.

Lithuania’s mufti said he had received threats involving possible attacks on the mosque and harm against him and his family, raising concerns over the safety of Muslims and the protection of religious sites in the country.

The incidents prompted mixed political reactions. Some lawmakers called for avoiding deeper religious and social divisions, while others linked the developments to ongoing debates over immigration. Opposition figures called for reducing the number of foreign workers entering the country.
