Syrian Observatory Reports 13 Deaths, Including Women and Child, Within 72 Hours

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported the deaths of 13 people, including two women and a child, in separate incidents across several Syrian provinces over a 72-hour period, amid continued security challenges and the lingering dangers of war remnants.

According to the monitoring group, the deaths resulted from various incidents, including killings, security-related events, and explosions or hazards linked to remnants of the conflict.

The observatory said the latest casualties highlight the ongoing risks faced by civilians in different parts of Syria, particularly due to the continued presence of weapons, landmines, and unexploded ordnance left behind by years of armed conflict.

It warned that these threats continue to affect civilians, especially children, even in areas where military operations have declined, as unexploded weapons and explosive remnants remain in residential areas and locations frequently used by local communities.

The group attributed the continued loss of civilian lives to what it described as insecurity and the spread of weapons, calling for stronger measures to protect civilians and reduce risks across the country.

The Syrian Observatory urged international organizations and humanitarian bodies to increase efforts to remove mines and war remnants, particularly in populated areas, and to support measures aimed at limiting the uncontrolled spread of weapons.
