Authorities in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, have sealed two madrassas in the Banbhulpura area after their operators failed to provide required approval and registration documents during an official inspection.

The action was carried out by a joint team led by the Haldwani City Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrate as part of a wider state campaign to verify the legal status and compliance records of educational institutions.

Officials said the two madrassas were sealed after failing to produce the necessary documents on the spot. The move has raised concern among some other madrassa operators in the area, with reports that some institutions have temporarily closed amid ongoing inspections.

Haldwani City Magistrate A.P. Vajpayee stated that no educational institution would be allowed to operate without proper recognition and required permissions. Authorities said inspections will continue across Uttarakhand, with action taken against institutions found violating regulations.

The latest measures follow similar action in Udham Singh Nagar, where another madrassa was recently declared unauthorized. While the government says the campaign targets only institutions lacking required documentation, some operators have raised concerns and indicated plans to challenge certain decisions legally.
